Bitcoin ETFs are Long Overdue-SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce

If approved, crypto-focused ETFs would allow institutional investors to get exposure to digital assets without actually holding them. ETFs are a type of mutual funds that include certain assets and issue shares whose prices are pegged to those assets.

In contrast to existing crypto funds, such as the trusts of Grayscale Investments, shares of ETFs are freely tradable on traditional platforms alongside other “old school” financial products. But despite numerous attempts to list a Bitcoin ETF-the last application was filed by VanEck in June – the SEC has rejected all such applications in recent years.
